Hermosa Beach Artist and Author to exhibit at upcoming Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair

Deb Chaney, Hermosa Beach artist and author will be at the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair, next month, October 5th and 6th. Her works for sale will include a group of paintings with a heart theme, ranging in size from 2 in by 2 in to 4 ft. by 5 ft., as well as gift cards, prints, and her book; The Little Inspiration Book, Ideas to Empower Women.

Inside Deb's newly published book; The Little Inspiration Book, Ideas to Empower Women, she tells the story of starting a creative company based on her art and writing. Several years back a friend of hers was borrowing her husband's car. On the dashboard was a postcard sized painting which caught his eye. "Hey Deb," Steve called her on his cell phone, "I was wondering if you could paint me a four feet by four feet painting like this one?" The postcard painting was of a red and orange heart surrounded with textured smudges of blues and purples. Her answer was a resounding yes and a photo of this painting, her first commission, appears in her book.

The Little Inspiration Book does not just tell the story of how Deb became an artist and created her dreams, it gives women encouragement, suggestions, and tons of ideas to encourage them to live their dreams too. This is Deb's ultimate vision– to inspire women to follow their hearts and live their dreams.

Deb has lived many adventures and followed many dreams. Her travels have led her camping and backpacking throughout Canada, bicycle touring by herself for three months around Iceland and crewing for room and board on sailboats from Canada to Mexico. It was during this sailing trip she stopped in Hermosa Beach and fell in love with this ‘small town in the big city'.

During her travels she wrote thoughts and ideas that gave her courage to continue when situations proved challenging and which became The Little Inspiration Book. ."During the first leg of my sailing trip from Vancouver, Canada to San Francisco, we were one hundred nautical miles out from shore. The engine broke, the diesel heater gave up the ghost, and the wind vein (the sailboat's autopilot) fell apart. "When a two day storm hit, as I sat on deck through the night keeping watch for other boats, I kept repeating to myself; ‘Feel the fear but do it anyways'!" This motto and others are in the chapter entitled ‘Don't Give Up'. Motivational ideas, along with trip photos, stories, and quotes are encapsulated within the book.

The Little Inspiration Book encourages women to rejuvenate an aspect of their lives, look within themselves, and try something new. Kristine Carlson, author of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Women, says; "The Little Inspiration Book is filled with practical and doable suggestions to help women make the most of each moment and each day." Jack Canfield, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul, says it's "A sweet book full of ideas and resources for living a more fulfilling life." And Christiane Northrup, MD, author of Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom says; "The Little Inspiration Book is a treasure. No matter who you are or where you are, there is something in here that will help you remember who you are - right now!"

Deb currently works out of her studio, a renovated one-car garage located in Redondo Beach where she paints and writes. The last several months she has been working hard to produce the paintings she will sell at the upcoming Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair in October.
